To ship to or from X6A cryogenic dewars or any other material/equipment. Below are the instructions for each category:

All shipments to X6A will arrive at the NSLS twice daily directly to the NSLS stockroom. If you want your item to be picked up by a member of the beam line staff, please send an email with details of the item sent and instructions if any.
Shipping Dewars to X6A
NOTE: Make sure your dewar arrives one day in advance to your scheduled beam time. Also, if you want the dewar to be filled with liquid nitrogen, email the local contact in advance.
If you send the dry shipper, please label the Dewar with:
DRY SHIPPER NON-REGULATED NON-HAZARDOUS |
If you do not empty the dewar of liquid nitrogen before sending, your dewar is considered to be Hazardous with all trappings.
Shipping Dewars from X6A
After the experiment, before shipping the dewar to your home institution, make sure the dewar is dried/emptied just before the pickup. If you do not have sufficient time to drop the dewar to the pick up station, please drop the dewar of in the stock room area with all the necessary instructions and documentation for pick-up by FEDEX or similar carrier. If you don't have a return shipment allready scheduled provide all information, Fedex account and content description in the appropriate area in your visitor form and .
Shipping Hazardous Items to and from X6A
If your material is coming to BNL from off site, call the BNL Isotopes and Special Materials Group at extension 5233 for assistance. They will tell you what is required and will receive the package when it arrives at BNL. They will bring it to the Light Source Facility Support Technicians from whom you may pick up your package. Ship radioactive materials to:

Note: This includes radioactive material that is shipped by overnight carrier, i.e., Federal Express, DHL. Radioactive material is not to be shipped directly to the location of the Department/Division using it.
Note: The Radiological Control Division must survey the package before its contents are handled.
