Energy Scan

From X6AWiki

Steps to run Energy Scan:

Performing a fluorescence scan at X6A has never been easier than that.

1. In DCS click on the Scan tab.

You should see

DCS view: Scan tab
DCS view: Scan tab

2. Select the Element and Edge

3. Click on Start

4. That's it

What is going on in the background ?
phi moved to 180 degrees (to avoid absorption from kappa)
detector shield closed
energy set to starting point
shutter Open
scan recorded
shutter Close

5. You should see something like that for a sample containing Se

6. You now need to analyze the data

the scan is located in your current directory in the sub-folder Scan here are the instruction for a scan at the Se K edge

Chooch-DCS.sh Se K filename
(without the .scan extension) and follow the online instructions

for exemple if the scan file name is
Se-solution.2007.October.05.16_39_24.scan
and the scan was recorded at the Se K edge

the command line is
Chooch-DCS.sh Se K Se-solution.2007.October.05.16_39_24

3 output files will be created (if option p will be used at the last step)
efs, inf and ps look at the inf file where anomalous scattering factors at the peak and inflection are computed)

Example of output inf file from Chooch-DCS.sh

scan chooch inf file
