Van den Berg's Lab reports in Nature
From X6AWiki
In his letter to Nature Van den Berg and co-workers present for the first time an example of a lateral uptake of hydrophobic substrates by membrane proteins. Observed in the Escherichia coli outer membrane long-chain fatty acid transporter FadL the mechanism observed by van den Berg's group has important implications in the combat of bacterial infection and multi-drug resistance.
